Sweet Nothings Sleepwear

Hey lovelies

Sunday’s are meant for pure leisure and relaxation which is only befitting that I post about a sleepwear brand that I have recently had the pleasure of working with.

Sweet Nothings is a range of sleepwear designed by a close friend. I remember a few years ago over dinner, she told me about her dream of creating a line of sleepwear. I’m so proud to see that it is finally a reality.

The current summer range encompasses satin two-piece sets short sets, rompers, gowns and even shorts sold separately. I purchased a set of three shorts (R250) which I find versatile. You can vamp it up with something lacy or wear with a plain tank top. The fabric of the garments albeit fancy don’t compromise on comfort. The relaxed fit of the shorts make them a dream to sleep in (pun intended).
I adore the above colour. Kind of obsessed with yellow at the moment.

A special range has been launched in time for valentines. Sweet nothings was darling enough to gift me a piece from this range. Head over to their social media pages (see below) to view the entire range.

Attention to detail makes a garment that much more special and keeping with the heart in the brands logo all the shorts come with a little heart charm.

So ladies why not spoil yourself with something beautiful?(alternatively send the link of this post to your special someone *hint* *hint*).

For orders you can email them at snsleepwear@gmail.com or follow the brand on social media to view product launches and specials. (FacebookTwitterInstagram)

Hello Again…

Hello Lovelies

My loyal readers will know I have been on a hiatus. I hope that everyone had a lovely break and positive start to 2016. I was away for most of January and it feels like my year is only beginning now. Coming back to my job and catching up was rather daunting. Now that I have had time to breath (I’m actually getting my hair done) I decided to say hello again.

Before I left on my break I bought this dress from The Space.

(Dress- The Space. Sandals- Daniella Micelle at Zoom. Chocker/Bracelet- Stardust collection Swarovski)

I adore this dress and I simply couldn’t wait to wear it. What attracted me to it was that it is demure yet sexy at the same time. Although I had nowhere special to go I felt like dressing up. This dress comes in another colour and I’m actually toying with the idea of purchasing it (I have sworn of shopping for a few months so I hope this willpower lasts).
2015 was a year where I had few highs with some heartbreak. So I’m just going to wing it in 2016 #NoGoalsAsSuch

What’s in my carry-on?

Hi Lovelies

The holidays are upon us and I’m grateful to be traveling to the U.S again this holiday. This post is dedicated to what’s in my carry-on/ hand luggage. I know it’s a bit delayed but if you’re like me then you probably left your packing for the last minute.

The flights to the U.S are considerably long and it’s difficult to pack most of your in flight and grooming necessities into 7 Kg. The restrictions with regards to cosmetics is also a downer but I found a way to concisely pack everything that I require.

So what’s in my bag?

-An extra set of clothes. This is ideal if you have a stop over and have a chance to shower and change. If your flight isn’t that long I still suggest packing an extra set in the event of your luggage not reaching your destination with you (Fingers crossed this does not happen). Steer clear from packing jeans or anything heavy though.

-An extra set of underwear (or two). Again think of the dreaded luggage loss.

– Slippers. Yes slippers! On a long flight you don’t want to be walking around in your shoes.

-Moisturiser, sunblock and face wipes are essential cosmetics. Don’t carry your full size bottles though, look for travel sized tubs and bottles. I purchased the ones below from Woolworths. They also have bottles available.

-Eye cream. I purchased this roll on eye brightener from The Body Shops Vitamen E range (pictured below). I haven’t used it yet but it claims to brighten and get rid of puffiness. I will review it if it’s any good .

-Deodrant (of course) and perfume. Ask for perfume samples when your purchasing big bottles as these come in handy.

-Makeup is essential if you’re anything like me and prefer not to look like a zombie when you reach your destination. Unless you doing the celeb thing and rocking those huge shades.

If you have the patience  for a full face of makeup I admire you. I just carry products that help to brighten and conceal.
I’m in love with the Bobbi Brown peach corrector so I purchased the eye brightener. It is a liquid product and easy to blend with your fingers. To help conceal even more I purchased the Bobbi brown face touch up stick. Which is a creamy stick concealer. This is super easy to apply.

Bronzer and blush to brighten up those cheeks (these aren’t essential but it’s a preference of mine). I’m lucky enough to own mini products. I’m excited to try out The Body Shop cheek bronzing cheek dome. It’s perfect for on the go application.

Lastly a neutral lip colour. My Favourite is the Clinique Chubby stick (In Curviest Caramel) as it provides moisture with a potent pop of colour.

These products combined are perfect for that five minute face.

– I also carry a little entertainment like a book or magazine. As there’s only so much television one can watch.

On that note have a blessed holiday be it local or international I hope these tips help.

Crazy about Cullotes

Hello Lovelies

I have been on a little emotional rollercoaster lately but there’s something about channeling my energy into styling an ensemble that makes me feel a little more confident. Keeping true to the “When you look good, you feel good” sentiment. Hence the inspiration behind my latest outfit post.

(Culottes-Zara, Shirt-YDE, Sandals- Madison, Bag- LOUIS VUITTON.All items are recent purchases)

Cullotes are EVERYWHERE this season and I currently have four pairs in my closet. It’s chic, comfortable and elegant. It also conceals my “no thigh gap” pins which is a major win. Another trend that I spotted in stores recently are shirts and tops with visible zip detail. I loved this one because of the colour. Mink is a beautiful shade to add to your summer colour palette. I finished the look off with ankle strap wedges. Wedges are perfect as they add height but don’t comprise on comfort especially when you are planning on fitting in some retail therapy.

Culottes used to be more of a formal nature but can now be styled in a multitude of ways. I plan on shooting another casual look soon.

Good luck for the month of December. I don’t know about you but I can’t wait to bid farewell to 2015.

Current Beauty Favourites

Hi Lovelies

There are some products that I use most of the time and I thought I’d share some of my current beauty favourites with you.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water  The Micellar cleansing water technology is not new to the beauty market, but the brand that I used previously came with hefty price tag. Garnier has created a wallet friendly option which has been lapped up by beauty aficionados. It is essentially a makeup remover and cleanser in one(no rinsing necessary) and I can assure you that it does live up to the hype. The problem with most makeup removers is that although they claim to be gentle around the eye area, if you have sensitive eyes (like myself), they very rarely are. This product differs in that aspect, it is formulated for sensitive skin. There are two options available one for regular skin and a Pure Active one for skin that’s prone to breakouts. I tried the normal skin variant and I was happy with it, but due to hormonal breakouts I purchased the pure active one just to test it out. A test claims if you use 2ml per cotton pad you will get 200 uses out of the 400ml bottle. This didn’t work for me, I use it once a day and it only lasted me about two months. It’s still worth the R79.99 price tag though as it is a fraction of the cost as opposed to other brands. (Available at Clicks and DisChem).

M•A•C Select Cover Concealer If there’s one beauty product that I go through like water it’s concealer. I prefer something more liquid and moisturizing around the eye area because as the day progresses the product tends to dry out and it becomes cakey (no matter how much I blend). The above concealer from M•A•C has been a favourite over the last few weeks, but if you have dark under eye circles /marks this product has to be used with a corrector as it offers medium coverage. It works well for me throughout the day especially around the eye area. Powder is essential though.

Nude Lipstick  It took me a while and a few beauty test runs to find the perfect nude shade of lipstick for my skin tone. I always tend to visit M•A•C for lipsticks as they have a wide  selection. I’m a light-medium yellow based skin tone and nude lipsticks that are too beige wash me out. I found that a brown or pink based nudes work well for me.  Two of my current favourites are M•A•C’s Fiery-which is more on the brown side (left) and Faux-more pink in nature (right). A nude lipstick is perfect for daily wear. I suggest finding one that’s closest to your original lip colour.

Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara
Bold and long eyelashes have long been the lust have for most woman. Mascara is the quickest way to achieve this. I always purchase drug store mascara’s because of their short lifespan, and because I don’t use it daily. Maybelline has been a favourite over the years as they offer a wide selection of different brush types. The thick fluffy bristles create the much coveted length and volume. Out of all the variants that I have tried this is my favourite, two coats and my straight tiny lashes have a mini makeover. Add an eyelash curler to that and who needs falsies.

Trending Now: Fringed Fashion

Hi Lovelies

Seventies bohemian fashion is all over stores at the moment. But 2015’s take on the trend is boho chic. Get the look by pairing seventies inspired pieces with modern and structured pieces. Fringed pieces are the most prevalent. If you aren’t into the boho vibe (I haven’t taken to it either) you can work the trend into your wardrobe by purcashing shoes and accessories with fringe details on them.

I guess it’s time to bring out your inner Donna and Jackie (That 70’s Show) ladies.

Avène Eau Thermale Spray Review

Hello Lovelies

We apply cosmetic products daily that aren’t exactly the best for our skin. Hence adopting a good skin regimen (with products that aim to heal the skin) is of utmost importance.

Off late water based mists have been quite the rage and a few months ago I received a few products from Avène. One of the products that stood out for me was the Eau Thermale Spray, a pure thermal spring water mist.

The product aims is to essentially sooth irritated or sensitive skin. I started using the spray when I returned from a holiday earlier this year. Due to the dry and hot climate I didn’t wear socks and my feet took quite a beating. I used the spray and after about two days of regular use the redness and irritation had disappeared.

It might seem obscene to purchase water in a spray bottle, but the product has a multitude of uses.

The Avène website has video tutorials describing different ways of using the Eau Thermale Spray. Have a look Here

I have started exercising again and I don’t like using anything on my face when I work out. Before I leave for gym I use this spray on my face just for some hydration (I don’t dab it off I let it settle into my skin). I also use it every day directly after I remove my makeup as it has a refreshing effect on the skin. I have also been experiencing sensitivity around my eye area due to using a computer all day. I spray the mist onto cotton pads and let it rest on my eyes for a few minutes. It helped quite a bit , I also sprayed it directly onto the eye area and I found that more effective.

Price: R150

This is definitely one of my go to products recently. So it deserves a mention.

The Avène range is available at selected Clicks Stores.

A look post Out of my Comfort Zone!

Hello Lovelies

Many trends are renditions of fashion from previous eras. Currently 90’s fashion is trending. Think Cher (from clueless) mixed with Spice Girls and some grunge. Nothing that would strike my fancy!

I received a few shoes from Dolce Vita (read more about the brand Here) and Lucy was one of them. A block heeled t-bar shoe, which doesn’t fit my general style aesthetic. That said I thought why not give myself a little challenge and defy the norm.

The shoe is reminiscent of the 90’s and this is how Style By Shaheeda does grunge.
(Tank Top- Country Road, Jeans- Cotton On, Sleeveless Coat- Ziba Styles, Handbag- Marc By Marc Jacobs

Befitting the monochrome of the shoe I decided on a black and white shoot.

This look is out of my comfort zone but hey what’s fashion without a little fun.

Sunday Style With Zaria From Dolce Vita

Hello Lovelies

Dolce Vita generously sent me a few pairs of shoes from their current range and I styled Zaria this weekend.

The Block Heel is one of the most prominent trends this season and I love that it’s stylish yet comfortable.

Dole Vita’s aim is to make footwear available to the masses at reasonable prices without compromising on style. Apart from aesthetics I look for quality and the shoes that I received didn’t dissapoint.

If you are familiar with my style, you know my fondness for tan accessories. Zaria’s neutral tone means it goes with most pieces from my wardrobe.

It was a scorcher of a day so for this look I paired a simple striped t-shirt with lightweight joggers. I have had these items since last year, both pieces are still very much on trend and variants can be found in stores currently.

(T-shirt: Country Road| Joggers: Trenery| Handbag: Louis Vuitton)

Dolce Vita is available from various retailers around South Africa. Email info@dolcevita.co.za to a find your nearest stockist.
