Review: Revlon Skinlights Illuminator

Healthy , fresh and glowing skin is trending at the moment. Most women are shying away from heavy makeup and going with a more natural base. Due to this there have been quite a few products released over the last year that aim to achieve this look.

The Revlon Photoready Skinlights illuminator has been on my radar for a while now but I refrained from purchasing it as I felt that I had way too many similar products. The beauty junkie in me prevailed and I bought it a few weeks ago and she’s really impressed.

As with any illuminator this product adds a subtle glow to your face. This product can be used alone, mixed into your foundation or as a highlighter. The product is buildable and quite pigmented.

Over the last two weeks I have been trying to give my face a break from makeup. The only reason I use a light coverage is because I feel my skin appears dull without it. I decided to forgo this little coverage because my skin started breaking out. That said I still wanted my skin to look healthy! So I started mixing a dot of the illuminator into my moisturizer daily and it instantly brightens up my face.

The product is available in the following colours:

Pink light: This is most suited for really fair skin tones. Generally people with a pink undertone.

Bare light: This would suit fair-medium skin tones. This is the colour that I chose as I have a yellow undertone it blended in well into my skin as it’s the light reflecting particles are gold.

Peach Light- Also for fair to medium skin tones, I found it a bit too stark for me once blended into my skin it looked too noticeable. So If you have a yellow undertone you might not like it.

Bronze Light- If you’re looking for that beach glow then this is the colour you might be interested it. I think it works across most skin tones depending on how you use it. If you’re fair I suggest using a minimal amount as it’s quite dark. If you have medium-dark skin tone then you can use it on your entire face.



I realized the true effect of this product when I mixed it into my tinted moisturizer and a friend commented that my skin looks amazing.
