If there was ever a beauty product that I was eager to own the Chanel CC Cream has to be it. This cult product (despite the high price) has had rave reviews from bloggers and beauty aficionados alike. The day I tried it out on my skin I was taken by the instantaneous transformation.
What is a CC cream?
The most common definition of CC is “Colour Correcting”. Basically it aims to even out your complexion by blurring imperfections. Chanel defines it as “Complete Correction”.
Does the Chanel CC cream achieve this?
yes…Yes…YEs…YES (According to me).
I am a fan of anything that makes my skin look brighter and healthier, so that was actually the main selling point for me.
But what makes it so special you ask?
There are currently only Two Shades available- 20 Beige and 32 Beige Rosè. At the Chanel counter that I visited they only had Beige Rose available and I was told that, that was the only colour that they stock. As I did more research I realised that the products main target market were women with Asian skin tones helping them to achieve a perfect complexion. That explained why a fairly universal shade worked well with my skin tone.
I find the coverage to be quite effective as layering more product over redness or blemishes diminishes them but this goes with older marks. I found with newer blemishes I had to use some concealer.
Apart from coverage the light texture also aims to sooth and moisturise the skin. SPF 30 provides effective coverage form harsh sunlight. It is also long wearing and I can vouch for this as I use a concealer under my eyes and this has to be re-applied during the day but I found that the cream is still effective.
The only cons are the two shades wont suit everyone and it might add warmth to a very fair skinned person but it doesn’t work well with dark skin tones. The Chanel assistant did mention that more shades are going to be launched so here’s hoping.
Also the price tag of R775 is not budget friendly but you have to remember as with any branded product you’re paying for the name as well.
If you’re looking for something light weight with ample coverage and you don’t like heavy makeup then the Chanel CC cream is ideal for you.
Trust me it is definitely splurge worthy…
