The Met Gala/Ball is an annual fundraising event held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The event commemorates the opening of the museum’s annual fashion exhibit. Anna Wintour (US Vogue’s editor in chief) heads this social soirée and she chooses the theme and the guest list each year. The guest list is made up of an elite group of Hollywood stars, designers, music artists and models.
The 2014 Met Gala was held last night and this years theme was “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” centred around Charles James’s (Americas first couturier) work. The dress code was “White Tie and Decorations”. And the stylista’s came out to play in their designer ensembles. Here a are few that are my favourites.
Monochrome was one of the top picks and of the night.
Only Sarah Jessica Parker can get away with this Oscar De La Renta dress that’s reminiscent of her Carrie Bradshaw days.
The Gossip Girl “it girls” channelled the metallic trend. Blake looks gorgeous and carries off the old Hollywood look so well. I like the style of Leighton’s dress just I wish she had chosen better shoes maybe a pointy metallic or even a more constructed gladiator sandal.
The two piece trend that’s made up of a cropped top and maxi skirt looks like a huge hit for Spring. Actress Emma Stone chose to go with two different hues of pink which looks amazing on her skin tone and stands out because of it’s simplicity.
You can never go wrong with black as Gisele Bundchen demonstrates in this black cut out dress.
Want to wear leather and animal print and not look like you’re a Jersey Shore resident? Take a page out of Rosie Huntington- Whiteley’s book…
Out of the songstresses , music moguls and reality tv queens the Beckham’s are still my Favourite couple. Très Chic!!!
