Princess of Jozi Collaboration 1.0

Hello Lovelies

I have a treat for you, one of my favourite bloggers Zaakira author of the blog Princess of Jozi and I have collaborated to bring you some style inspo on something we both love. Read on…

When Shaheeda from Style by Shaheeda and I started chatting about a blogger collaboration the first thing that came to mind was our very common obsession: Gossip Girl. I then spent weeks binge watching the show (like Dr. Doofenschmirtz suggested on Doof Daily) and became so engrossed in everything from the (sometimes ridiculous) storylines to the scenery and of course the FASHION! I thought it would be nice to write about the fashion in the show so before I start rambling about how abruptly it ended let me get straight to it.
Most fans of the show are either in the classic Blair or sultry Serena corner when it comes to style. I have been intrigued by Georgina (played by Michelle Trachtenberg) ever since she made her very first evil appearance in season one.

Her style was very dark and edgy but not as aesthetically overwhelming as gothic style usually is.While she does wear some gothic elements like cross necklaces she pairs it with simple, classy items to soften the look. Fabrics like leather were cleverly incorporated into her outfits with soft flowy fabrics and jewelled necklaces making the overall effect quite stunning.
She made dark shades her bitch so to speak. Georgina rarely appeared in any colour other than black, navy and grey. The dark colours also meant that for evening wear she could go SPARKLY without looking like she just arrived from the 2000s. She also had the smoky eyes and black nails thing which perfectly conveyed the image of her dark, twisted yet beautiful and together character. I also really loved the accessories she wore. Her jewellery pieces were always large and chunky and a great contrast against her dark clothes.

Georgina is still one of my style icons. I love edgy clothes and accessories and I know that sometimes they can look quite ridiculous if not worn the correct way so I always aspire to dress like her.
Who is your Gossip Girl style-icon?
Until next time
Love and sparkles
