The first of September marks the first day of Spring( In South Africa)… Spring is by far my favourite season, the sun is out, the flowers are blooming and of course all the pretty clothes are in fashion again.
There are a few trends that have been predominantly taking over stores, I decided to combine a few Spring/Summer 2013 trends that I have seen in magazines and in stores.
Graphic Monochrome Prints:
The monochromatic palette has become a staple over seasons, but for Spring 2013 it’s all about graphic monochromatic prints. Geometric shapes ,bold patterns and vertical stripes are very on trend at the moment. My must have item are vertical striped pants/jeans. I haven’t seemedto find a pair yet that I really like, unfortunately most stores have striped leggings, and not much can be done with that. The great thing about the vertical stripes is that if you have short legs, these pants make you look long and lean.
One of the best things about Spring and summer are the light colours that dominate the season. I usually stick to grey, black and navy during winter, and by the end of it I’m totally sick of the bland colours. My favourite summer shade is coral, I feel it compliments my skin tone. Colours like light blue, baby pink, lime and lilac are all the rage this season. I love the light skinny jeans, and chiffon shirts in these sorbet shades.
White on White:
Remember P.Diddys (or whatever he goes by now), all white parties on a yacht in St. Tropez , where all the guests have to wear white ensembles. Well his party dress code is very trendy right now. I am personally not very into this trend but it can be chic when styled well. And remember white isn’t the most forgiving colour so when choosing white pants for example see that it suits your body shape. White with gold accessories are über glam!
Hope this helps you with your new season shopping , remember style is all about individuality so you can incorporate trends to match your personal style.
